Spring Design Ships Alex eReader in Black and White

Recently CNET reported that the $399 Android-powered device, which features both a 6-inch E Ink display and a 3.5-inch, 16-bit color touch-screen LCD, has shipped.

The 11-oz Alex eReader from Spring Design measures 4.7 inches wide, 8.9 inches high, and less than 0.5 inches thick. While it doesn’t have iPad‘s iTunes bookstore, you can download Google Books and it’s can read ebooks in EPUB, PDF, HTML, and TXT formats.

The Alex has built-in Wi-Fi and 2GB removable storage, but add up to 32GB more with the MicroSD expansion slot. A padded cover and AC adapter come with the ebook reader, but look for more accessories for the Alex eReader coming soon.
