I am Erich of E-Accessories
I am Erich Stauffer, the founder of E-Accessories, this website about ereader accessories. You might be wondering what ereader I use. I use my HTC EVO and the Kindle app to read ebooks I download from the Kindle Store. The app is free and works great on my Android device, but it is also available for iPhones, Macs, and PCs. While sometimes it’s easy to think of reading ebooks only on ereader devices like the nook or Kindle, but ebooks can be read wherever hardware and software allow it to occur. When Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, was asked what ereader Microsoft would produce, he responded, the “Windows PC.” At first this seemed to me to be an old fashioned view and a sign that Microsoft is too old to be agile, but taking the long view it could be a sign that the company realizes that ereader devices make up just a fraction of how ebooks will be read in the future and a focus on their core competencies. This may be to prevent forays into non-core products like the failed Kin devices and they have already invested heavily in developing Windows software for tablet PCs, which do a nice job of bridging the gap between specialized ereader devices and laptops. In fact, to hedge against this, Barnes and Noble has actually started referring to their nook Color as a “Readers Tablet” after their latest Android upgrade, which has email access, an enhanced browser, and downloadable apps via Barnes and Noble’s new app store.
So this blog is not just about covers, cases, and other accessories for ereader devices like the nook, Kindle, and Sony Reader, but for any device that is capable of reading ebooks from smartphones to tablet PCs. So whether that means promoting lights so that you can read better at night or flash cards so that you can store more files, we will continue to help bring together ebook readers and the devices that display the ebooks (or digitions as they are sometimes called). And not only will we be highlighting the best accessories, we’ll also be steering you away from the bad products and keeping you up to date on news about the industry and manufacturers. Think of this as like a TechCrunch or a CNET for ereader accessories only – a technological bubble focused entirely on the ereader accessories market.
A little about me
Like I mentioned earlier, I created this blog to talk about ereader accessories and I use an HTC EVO 4G from Sprint as my primary ereader. I also use a Dell PC running Windows 7. I have a 22 inch ViewSonic LCD monitor and while I have Firefox installed, I prefer the Chrome browser. By day I work as a business analyst and also run my own web design business in Indianapolis.
